| RICHMOND, VA - Dometic
Corporation is supplying air conditioning systems for the Glacier
Society’s restored arctic survey vessel Ice Bucket.
The 40 ft. vessel is being equipped with two Marine Air 16,000
BTU Vector Compact reverse-cycle heat pump systems with digital
thermostat controls. The low-profile air conditioning units are
designed for space-saving applications.
The Ice Bucket, which once served as Admiral Byrd’s arctic
survey vessel, is being rebuilt by the Glacier Society to serve
as a training vessel for Sea Cadets, Sea Scouts and other youth
groups. It will be based in Stamford, Connecticut.
The Glacier Society is dedicated to the restoration, preservation
and operation of polar exploration vessels. The group is currently
engaged in a major project to restore the historic icebreaker USS/USCGC
Glacier as a floating museum and education ship.
Marine Air products are made by Dometic’s Environmental Systems
business unit, formerly Taylor Made Environmental, which was acquired
by Dometic from the Taylor Made Group in August 2003. Other major
marine product lines include Cruisair and Condaria air conditioning
systems, Tundra refrigerators and freezers, Sentry battery chargers
and Grunert marine refrigeration systems.
Dometic Corporation is one of the world’s leading suppliers
of accessory products to the RV and pleasure boat industry. The
company’s offerings include refrigerators, air conditioners,
stove tops, microwaves, awnings, generators, lights, windows, doors
and sanitation systems. Dometic has production facilities in 10
