Gerard
Richard "Jerry" Seeney, 77, of Chesterfield,
a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Sunday May 29, 2005, at John Randolph
Medical Center, Hopewell. He retired from the United States Navy
with over 20 years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served aboard
the U.S.S Glacier most of his career, and made three deployments
to the Antarctic. He also retired from Civil Service as a computer
tech. He was an active member of American Legion Post #284 and the
40 & 8 Voiture of Colonial Heights and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 3376 of Ephrata, Pa. Mr. Seeney was also a member of the
Phillips Volunteer Fire Company #13 auxiliary in Chesterfield, and
a volunteer with the Senior Citizens Group.
He
is survived by his wife Gloria E. Seeney; two daughters, Carla J.
Pulley of Chesterfield Va., and Linda M. Seeney of California; a
son Richard G. Seeney of Georgia; two grandchildren, Anthony L.
Pulley and his wife, Kimberley of Prince George, and Matthew L.
Pulley of Chesterfield; great-grandchild, Nathaniel L. Pulley of
Prince George; a sister, Annie Horan of Pennsylvania; and a brother,
Harold Seeney of Florida.
An
American Legion service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005,
in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home
and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The family will receive friends following
the service. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery
and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations if desired can be made to the American Heart Association
