Koether and Steve Johnson present a plaque in appreciation to Senator
Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn. for his sponsorship, together with Senator
Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., of the legislation which deeded USS/USCGC
Glacier to The Glacier Society.
Through
their efforts along with Congressman Christopher Shays of CT, the
2001 Defense Authorization Bill included a provision authorizing
the Secretary of Transportation to transfer title of the former
USS Glacier to the Glacier Society. President Clinton signed the
legislation in October 2000.
