| Ray
A. Bunten, 78, passed away quietly at home in Walnut Creek,
CA, on Sunday, November 12, 2006. Ray retired as an electrical engineer
after 40 years with PG&E. He also served 40 years in the U.S.
Navy retiring as Chief Warrant Officer, Fourth Grade.
An
avid gardener and enthusiastic traveler, Ray regularly donated his
considerable energy, skills and time to projects benefiting others,
spending over 60 years working with the Boy Scouts of America, and
most recently assisting in the reactivation of an icebreaker for
the Glacier Society.
Ray
was survived by his wife of 55 years, Loree Bunten. He was the father
of Susan, Edward, and Janette; father-in-law of Brian Johnston and
Ellen Cheung; grandfather of Emma Burton-Johnston and Brandon Bunten-Cheung;
and brother of Dorothy Walton and Helen Hanson. He was predeceased
by sons, Charles and Steven. A memorial service was held. In lieu
of flowers, donations can be made to the Boy Scouts of America,
Mt. Diablo Council, or the Contra Costa County Crisis Center.
